Celebrating the Mohegan Sun for Native American Heritage Month

Shelly Douglas, CHC Senior Director of Corporate Engagement and Kyle Fusaro, Mohegan Sun Human Resources Manager and campaign coordinator

November is Native American Heritage Month, a celebration of the cultures and contributions of our nation’s first people. CHC is proud of our long-standing partnership with the Mohegan Sun. The Mohegan Tribe is a sovereign, federally-recognized Indian tribe in Southeastern Connecticut. The Mohegan Tribe was the first Native American tribe to own a professional sports team, which are now called the WNBA Connecticut Sun. The team’s uniforms feature the Mohegan Tribe’s symbol: a rising sun.

Since 1999, the Mohegan Sun has partnered with CHC on an annual employee giving campaign to raise funds for the community. This past year, thanks to the incredible generosity of the company and its employees, they raised more than $700,000 – more than double the amount raised last year. The Connecticut Sun also contribute to CHC’s giving campaign.

CHC looks forward to continuing to partner with the Mohegan Sun to create stronger healthier communities for all people.
