New CHC President and CEO Jean Accius Speaks at IMAGINE: Nonprofit Conference in Washington, DC

CHC’s newly appointed President and CEO, Jean C. Accius, PhD, was among the speakers at this year’s IMAGINE: Nonprofit conference, sharing the stage with leaders in nonprofits and philanthropy including Chelsea Clinton, Flikshop CEO Marcus Bullock, International Myeloma Foundation CEO Yelak Biru, Save the Children Head of Business Intelligence Alan Gordon, among others.

Presented by Amazon Web Services (AWS), the IMAGINE: Nonprofit conference is a no-cost event that brings together nonprofit leaders, purpose-focused technologists, and innovators to discuss how technology can help drive a positive impact for both people and the planet. This in-person event took place on March 14, 2023, in Washington, DC, and combined inspirational thought leadership sessions, partner showcases, and networking opportunities for technology-curious impact makers.

Accius’ presentation, The cost of inaction: Build collective purpose and collective responsibility, was part of the Inspire Sessions. He advocated for closing the longevity gap, creating more time for Americans everywhere to live to their full potential.

“When we ‘re-imagine’ America, we have to remember to include those in the margins in solving problems and building anew. We have to use this time to get close to the problems by engaging communities fully.  We must take the time to listen deeply to understand what communities want and need, and shift the way we think about those we serve, looking at first at what they have rather than what they lack and then co-create solutions that meet their preferences, goals and aspirations.” – Jean Accius

Dr. Jean Accius is an accomplished leader and innovator in health equity, longevity, health systems transformation, and building equitable systems so that every person in every community can live a longer, healthier, and more productive life. His appointment as incoming CHC President and CEO was announced in February.
