Virtual Volunteer Opportunities

By: Shannon George, Community Relationship Manager at CHC: Creating Healthier Communities

Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community. For your convenience, CHC staff compiled the below list of volunteer opportunities to help create healthier communities:

  1. Board of Directors- Member Position
    • Purpose: To advise and assist with the leadership and general promotion of Needs Beyond Medicine in support of the organization’s mission and needs.
  2. Call Isolated Older Adults from Home
    • If you are 55 and older, you are needed to provide socially-distanced companionship phone calls to isolated older adults in the community. These individuals may live in their own home, or in residential care facilities. Older adults are feeling more loneliness than ever because of the pandemic. Since loneliness has many negative consequences on health, memory, and happiness, your service can make a huge difference!
  3. Nonprofit CPA/Accountant
    • Work in tandem with our Treasurer to advise on nonprofit tax laws, tax filings, and make sure our new, growing organization is maintaining accurate and required financial records. We have an fantastic, dedicated Treasurer with experience in the banking community and we are looking for a CPA experienced in speaking “nonprofit” to ensure we are meeting grant requirements, as well.
  4. Hospice Pen Pal
    • We are in need of a great volunteer that is willing to write uplifting letters of encouragement for our nurses and staff to hand out to patients living in nursing homes or care facilities. This is a one-time occurrence and not an on going opportunity. We are seeking a large number of letters and need your help!
  5. Turn Your Miles Into Meals with MOVE 2 Fight Hunger Virtual Challenge
    • By participating in ANY activity (running, walking, yoga, biking, gardening or dancing to your favorite song), we encourage everyone to MOVE together 2 Fight Hunger.
  6. Teddy Bear Fundraiser
    • Collect teddy bears and other new and slightly loved plush animals for kids in crisis.
  7. GED Teacher needed
    • Looking for a volunteer, either online or in-person, to assist our residents with their GED test goals. Please reply only if you have experience with the GED.
  8. Virtual Prayer
    • Good people complain about what is going on, but there is no organization. Organization begins with a few and spreads. You have the opportunity to start a grass roots movement led by God. This opportunity offers organization before God should He wish to use us. Virtual meetings will include prayer time for our countries and our world.
  9. Workshop Presenter: Use your knowledge to help small business owners learn critical skills
    • Workshop presenters share their business acumen with their local community by leading educational workshops and seminars.
  10. Advocate for individuals with disabilities
    • Imagine! provides services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities of all ages. We are currently seeking an ongoing volunteer to serve on the Imagine! Human Rights Committee. This role is important to advocate for individuals who have experienced rights restrictions. This role will entail reviewing documentation each month and meeting virtually with the HRC to determine if restrictions are being implemented properly.
  11. Virtual parties for expecting military and veteran families
    • Soldiers’ Angels Baby Brigade Team is dedicated to supporting deployed service members and post-9/11 wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans and their families who are expecting a new baby with a virtual baby shower party! Our Virtual baby showers are fun to be a part of and welcoming their sweet bundle of joy!
  12. Virtual Intern
    • A part-time virtual intern is needed to provide administrative support, develop relationships with students and respond to communications.
