For more than 35 years, active and retired state and university employees in Illinois choose to make a difference in the lives of others by participating in the annual State Employee Combined Appeal (SECA). Since its inception, employees have donated more than $80 million for organizations working to improve lives in the state of Illinois, across the nation, and throughout the world.

This past year, approximately 70 percent of state agencies participated in the campaign through charity fairs and fundraising events such as an Oktoberfest celebration, silent auctions, bake sales, brown bag lunch and learns, and games of BINGO.

To encourage employee participation, SECA holds an annual campaign ambassador training. Community Health Charities provides campaign resources for employees, including an engagement guide of fun activities and a year-round calendar of engagement ideas.

Community Health Charities also provides a customized Giving Matters 365 platform for SECA that enables employees to donate online.

In total, more than 1,600 employees donated $2,093,176 last year, with 100 percent of the contributions going to the charities and causes of choice.
