Saks Serves in September

Saks Serves dished up an impactful September by organizing seven volunteer projects for employees to participate in over 30 days. Saks kicked it off with a food-packing project to support local food banks in honor of the 20th anniversary of 9/11. Next came a month-long backpack drive to support a local New York nonprofit whose mission is to support low-income Hispanic families.

Employees in Tennessee were happy to participate in two custom projects; one was a school supply drive for the local elementary school and the second was to assemble first responder appreciation bags and deliver to the local fire department. An employee who helped organize the project had this to say: “We had an awesome time stuffing and delivering the First Responder Appreciation Bags. I hope we can do this every year!  Such a heart-warming experience.”

Back in New York, the Saks photo studio hosted a group of young adults from Covenant House International, providing them with new clothes, styling tips, and a professional photoshoot. Saks served up the fashion, fun, and career development to the grateful group. Saks employees closed out the month by getting crafty with local school kids from the Bronx by volunteering at an afterschool program organized by new CHC partner Henry Street Settlement.
