Giving Back to Veterans
The Veteran Health and Wellness Foundation (VHWF) is a non-profit organization established by military veterans with expertise in the area where health, wellness and healthcare delivery intersect with the social determinants of health and military culture. VHWF exists for the express purpose of addressing systemic inequities regarding access to and excellence in care provided by the Department of Defense, Veteran’s Health Administration of Civilian Healthcare Facilities to Veterans and their families.

Veterans and Dementia
Veterans living with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or traumatic brain injury (TBI) have a higher risk of developing dementia or Alzheimer’s. The Alzheimer’s Association has information and resources to answer your questions about veterans and dementia risk, symptoms and treatment.

US Military Veterans and Cancer
United States military veterans often face unique health challenges, and in some cases might have a higher risk for some cancers because of exposure to carcinogens during service. Here we offer vital information on understanding these risks, as well as ways to help lower your risk. Veterans with cancer can find resources for health care services, support groups, and financial help. Your service and sacrifice are deeply valued. Helping Military Families
Fisher House Foundation builds comfort homes where military & veteran families can stay free of charge, while a loved one is in the hospital. These homes are located at military and VA medical centers around the world. Fisher Houses have up to 20 suites, with private bedrooms and baths. Families share a common kitchen, laundry facilities, a warm dining room, and an inviting living room.

Connect to Care
Headstrong’s care coordinator conducts a 20-30 minute intake to match you with a therapist who fits your needs. You and your therapist engage in trauma-focused treatments such as CPT, EMDR, PE, etc. Your treatment ends when you have gained the skills and tools for a more fulfilling life.

Military Mental Health
Mental Health America respects and appreciates current and former members of the military and provides information to help to break down the stigma of mental health issues among soldiers, veterans, their families, and medical staff to ensure that a greater number of military families receive the prompt and high-quality care they deserve.

NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) offers vital support and education for service members, veterans, and their families facing mental health challenges. This resource highlights key information on conditions such as PTSD, depression, and traumatic brain injury, along with guidance on seeking confidential care and understanding military policies around mental health.
