The America We Become—Starts Now

Close your eyes for just a moment and imagine America—one year from now.

It’s July 2026. The sweeping reconciliation bill passed by Congress has taken hold. Some Americans are enjoying a $800–$1,200 tax cut. But beneath the surface, our nation is unraveling. Our country’s national debt has surged by $3.3 trillion, and our country is suffering in new and dangerous ways.

A year ago, Medicaid covered 1 in 5 Americans. But now, despite warnings from the General Accounting Office and the Congressional Budget Office, 16 million hard working everyday Americans—our neighbors, coworkers, parents, and friends— with jobs in retail, customer service, and hourly roles have lost access to healthcare due to $800 billion in cuts, stricter eligibility rules, and new increased administrative barriers.

They have been stripped of coverage. Not because they didn’t work hard. But because we failed to act. Hospitals in rural communities have gone dark. Clinics are closing their doors. Pregnant women must now travel hours just to deliver a child. Our young people—once full of potential—are now too sick with chronic illness, too undernourished, too unsupported to serve their country or follow their dreams.

This is not a distant headline. It’s personal.

Picture your life.

Your partner has a stroke. Long-term nursing care is needed—but not covered. You have a good job with health insurance, but it doesn’t go far enough. Your savings evaporate. Your future dims. Medicaid would have been there. Now, it’s gone.

Or maybe you’re expecting a child. Complications arise. Your baby is born early, fragile, fighting for life in a NICU for nearly 90 days. The bill? Over $800,000. Even with insurance, you face an overwhelming bill—money you simply don’t have. Medicaid would have stepped in to cover the cost of your premature child’s hospital stay. Now, you’re left to fend alone.

This isn’t just about statistics. It’s about the soul of our country. And this moment is a test of our collective courage. Because Medicaid is more than a government program—it’s the moral conscience of a compassionate nation.

It says: We see you. You matter. And we will not let you fall.

It keeps rural hospitals open.

It ensures children get care when they’re sick.

It allows aging parents to receive support with dignity.

It shields families from financial ruin.

And it strengthens our economy—creating $550 billion in new tax revenue and a workforce that is healthier, stronger, and ready to build America’s future. We still have time. But we must act now—boldly, unapologetically, together. We must stand up for the people who are being pushed aside. We must fight not just to protect Medicaid—but to defend who we are as a nation.

Because the America we become starts with the choices we make today. Join me to stand up for Medicaid and safeguard our collective prosperity because communities across America- preemies, sick spouses, rural families and so many more- need our voices.

Let’s choose compassion. Let’s choose courage. Let’s choose each other.
