CHC Participates in Roundtable Hosted by Lamaze International

CHC’s Adelaide “Adele” Appiah was recently featured in a roundtable discussion hosted by longtime CHC partner, Lamaze International, Demonstrating the Case for Childbirth Education as a Cost-Effective Method for Improving Childbirth Outcomes. This virtual event was an opportunity for advocates and specialists in perinatal healthcare to share their expertise and address the barriers to equitable perinatal care.

The roundtable featured a diverse group of partner organizations that discussed the social, ethical, and economic benefits of addressing health equity in perinatal care. The participants also explored best practices to advance perinatal and postpartum coverage for underserved communities and strategies for measuring the impact of these efforts. Lamaze will publish a proceedings report with recommendations and action items for payers, legislators, and regulators following its roundtable.

Adele is the Director of Programs at CHC, where she leads a team of community-based participatory researchers, public health practitioners and community leaders in building public health programming. Adele is also a fellow with the RWJF-funded, National Collaborative for Health Equity’s Culture of Health Leaders Institute for Racial Healing. As a fellow she focuses on the Racial Healing and Relationship pillar.
