CHC Joins Global Movement to Support Employees Facing Serious Illness

CHC: Creating Healthier Communities has officially joined the Working with Cancer Pledge, a global initiative calling on employers to create more compassionate and recovery-forward workplaces. By taking this pledge, CHC is committing to evaluate and strengthen its policies, benefits, and workplace culture to better support employees facing cancer or other serious illnesses in addition to the caregivers among us. This action aligns with CHC's broader vision of a world where every person in every community has an opportunity to live their healthiest life.

"We believe strong communities start with strong cores," said Jean Accius, PhD, CHC President and CEO. "That means supporting our own people with the same care and commitment we bring to our mission. Signing the Working with Cancer pledge is a natural extension of our values and a step toward building a workplace where resilience, trust, and compassion are at the center."

CHC is a trusted national leader that unites nonprofits, businesses, and communities to break down barriers to health and equity, creating resilient environments where everyone can thrive. With nearly 70 years of impact, we empower thousands of organizations annually to drive lasting change. Many of our nonprofit partners are at the forefront of delivering care, support, and innovation for those facing serious illness, making the Working with Cancer pledge a natural and powerful extension of CHC's ongoing commitment to health access and community resilience. This commitment encompasses not only CHC's internal support structures but also calls on partners and peers across the nonprofit and business sectors to join the movement.

"At CHC, we're proud of our deep commitment to employee well-being," said Andrea Grant, EVP and Chief Operating Officer. "From flexible leave options and preventive care incentives to mental health support and peer-to-peer PTO donations, our workplace is designed to meet people where they are and help them thrive at work and beyond."

With more than 18 million cancer survivors in the U.S. today—and nearly half of employees facing a diagnosis afraid to tell their employer—workplace support is essential. Through this pledge, CHC is taking another important step to ensure its internal culture reflects the kindness, empathy, and care it strives to bring to communities nationwide. While cancer remains a critical focus, CHC's commitment extends to all serious illnesses—recognizing that recovery, resilience, and compassionate workplace support are essential for every employee facing health challenges
