CHC CEO Jean Accius to Speak at U.S. News & World Report Event in D.C.
CHC’s Jean Accius at the upcoming U.S. News & World Report event, The State of Equity in America. The thought-provoking discussion on the current state of equity in America will bring together thought leaders from business, government, health, education and other sectors for a day of solutions-oriented dialogue on equity in America. Accius will speak on a panel – “Diversity Diagnosis: How Fair or How Healthy Is the Nation’s Health System?” – examining the opportunities for a more equitable system and the barriers that persist for optimal health across communities. The panel also includes Ceci Connolly, President and CEO, Alliance of Community Health Plans, and Richard E. Besser, M.D., President and CEO, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
“A person’s ZIP code is a greater indicator of living a long, healthy life than their genetic code,” notes Accius. “We must eliminate disparities in life expectancy, or we risk irreparable damage to American families, communities, a stable housing and employment market, businesses and the U.S. economy. Every resident of every neighborhood deserves the same number of years to grow old with their spouses, play cards with their friends, check books out of the library, and watch their grandchildren grow up.”
This conversation is particularly timely as life expectancy in the U.S. still remains below pre-pandemic levels. With the presidential election approaching, The State of Equity in America will examine critical topics in cross-sector strategies for improving health outcomes for all Americans.
Other leaders speaking at the event include Don Graves, the Deputy Secretary of Commerce, Denise Forte, President and Chief Executive Officer, The Education Trust, Congresswoman Lauren Underwood, Yolanda Lawson, M.D., President, National Medical Association, and others.
The event, taking place on June 5, 2024, in Washington, D.C., is an invitation-only event for government officials, education leaders, health care executives and other key stakeholders. For more information on participation, contact the event organizers.
